Adjustments, often referred to as manipulations, are gentle, minor movements of vertebrae in the spine. Anything from normal day-to-day activity and poor posture, to trauma, such as a car accident, can move your vertebrae out of place. When this happens adjustments help to realign your body's structure and improve its overall physical function so you can get back to doing the things you love.
What to expect:
When performing an adjustment Dr. Baker will apply quick, specific pressure to the affected area using her hands or some times an instrument. In most cases this movement results in little or no pain. In some instances you may hear a noise like cracking knuckles. This is just gasses escaping the joint.
Why do I need an adjustment?
Out of place vertebrae can have extensive effects on your entire body. Misalignments inhibit the flow of your nervous system, which is responsible for sending all kinds of important information to your brain. An out-of-line vertebrae can also play havoc with other important functions of the body, resulting in less than optimal health and physical performance.
- Slight, gentle movements of the vertebrae
- An excellent way to support your nervous system and overall body health
- Relatively painless
- Performed by hand or with an instrument
