Massage is an excellent addition to the chiropractic treatment to aid in improving overall health and musculoskeletal efficiency. Massage has a number of beneficial effects on the body and the mind. Some of these include removal of toxins that can build up in the muscles of the body, increased circulation, and increased flexibility in not only the muscles, but also the connective tissue within the body.
Massage also can help with muscle spasms as well as soft tissue injuries. Increasing the movement and reducing the overall recovery time by helping the body in the healing process.
Meet Our Massage Therapist
Gina Settlemires LMT, is our newest addition to the MFC family.
Hey Everyone, I’m Gina Settlemires! I’ve lived in the Nashville area most of my life, as my family and I moved here in 1988. In 2006 I received my massage diploma and graduated from Miller-Motte Technical Collage. I was excited to join the team at Maryland Farms Chiropractic!
For the past 10 years I have been a licensed massage therapist specializing in Swedish, deep tissue, therapeutic and trigger point therapy. For the mom’s to be I offer both prenatal and postnatal massage. As needed I will also incorporate aromatherapy into massage sessions.

I’m looking forward to helping each and every one of you. Come see me!
Deep Tissue Massage for Brentwood and Surrounding Areas
If you've ever had a massage, you may remember it as a gentle experience that focused on the top levels of tissues. This is a technique known as Swedish massage. Although this form of massage therapy offers many benefits, there are some conditions that call for a more aggressive approach. Here at Maryland Farms Chiropractic, we're proud to offer deep tissue massage among our other healing services to help you get over serious chronic pain problems the natural way.
What Is Deep Tissue Massage?
Deep tissue massage lives up to its name. This technique employs firm strokes that manipulate tissues beyond the superficial level, including the fascia, ligaments, and muscles close to the bones. Problems afflicting these tissues can be responsible for some very debilitating conditions. For instance, an old injury that never healed properly may have developed adhesions, collections of internal scar tissue that bind muscles and tendons to each other. Motion in these tissues may be painful at best, and impossible at worst. Deep-set muscle groups can also harbor muscle knots known as trigger points. These knots are painful in and of themselves, but they may also refer pain to distant parts of the body. Muscle knots are especially troublesome for people with chronic pain syndromes.
Deep tissue massage can come to the rescue in these kinds of situations. The forceful manipulation of the deep tissues can "untie" painful muscle knots and release tissues trapped by adhesions. This makes deep tissue massage a commonly prescribed healing technique for conditions such as:
- Repetitive strain injuries
- Neck pain
- Upper or lower back pain
- Chronic muscle tension or stiffness
- Acute injuries
A Healthy Part of Your All-Natural Holistic Treatment Plan
Our Brentwood chiropractor works closely with our licensed massage therapist, Gina Settlemires, to incorporate deep tissue massage into holistic healing plans as needed. One of the great advantages of this combination is the way deep tissue massage can relax chronically tight muscles. As a result, not only do you receive the direct benefits of the massage itself, but you also get more benefit from your chiropractic treatment. Many of the same issues that create muscle spasms and adhesions, such as work accident or auto accident injuries, also leave you with spinal alignment problems. Our treatment method work perfectly together to help you feel and function better.
