What can I expect from my first visit? (back to top)
On your first visit, the Dr. will ask about your chief health complaints that you have or the main concern/problem which brought you to the clinic. The Dr. will also ask about other health related issues such as: family history, previous illnesses, surgery, and diet.
Next, there will be a physical exam which will include an examination of the spine which will help the Dr. detect any structural abnormalities or fixations that may be present. The exam also includes any necessary testing and X-rays. These things are done to “tailor” the care you receive so that the Dr. can best correct the cause of your problem.
Chiropractic adjustments do not hurt. In some circumstances, when there is already pain in the area, there can be some mild discomfort, which only lasts seconds.
What does most insurance cover? (back to top)
Insurance coverages vary greatly! Many cover all phases of care, some only cover a portion.
Please call our office to check your coverage. We can tell you what questions to ask your insurance provider or we can call them to find out what coverage you have.
How long will I have to have treatment? (back to top)
This is a very common question. The answer is that we don’t know. Every patient is different, and because of that, the policy in our office is that we do not prescribe a care plan until we have seen the patient for a couple of visits. This gives us a chance to see how the patient is responding to our type of treatment, then we can give an accurate and better detailed treatment plan so that the patient knows exactly how long correction will take.
What ages can benefit from Chiropractic care? (back to top)
Absolutely all ages from the newborn child to the senior citizen can benefit from chiropractic! The reason is that if there is nerve interference, whether young or old, the body can not function at 100% of it’s potential.
What can cause misalignment of the back? (back to top)
The more obvious causes include falls, accidents, and other trauma which occur at some time with most every one.
The less obvious causes are what I call “Time, Stress, and Gravity”. These are things which occur over time such as minor stresses to the spine from falls, bumps or bruises that happen from childhood on. Poor posture, sports activities, repetitive activities, stresses, emotional upsets, and just the “laws of Gravity” which affect all of us. Over time the probability of misalignment of the spine is very great! This is why it is important for every one to be checked before a minor problem could turn into a major problem!
What are symptoms of what you can cure, and what can't you fix? (back to top)
Chiropractors have successfully treated people who suffer from: sciatica, bulging or “slipped” discs, headache, carpal tunnel syndrome, TMJ problems, allergies, fatigue, neck pain, shoulder pain, mid-back and low-back pain, leg pain, foot pain, digestive problems and many, many more. The nervous system controls 100% of the functions in the body, it just makes sense that removing pressure & or interference from the nervous system allows the body to function better!
If you have a problem with a certain part of your back check out our symptoms page see what it may be affecting!
There are of course, certain problems that chiropractic care can not fix. Sometimes, there are things that fall outside the scope of chiropractic- meaning, that it is not a chiropractic problem. Also, there could be an instance where things have gotten to a point where the severity of the problem is such that a chiropractic adjustment will not alleviate the problem. The initial consultation and exam is designed to determine if either of these cases are true, and if so, it is our policy to refer you to the appropriate place so that you will get the care that you deserve.

Any tips for a healthy spine? (back to top)
Movement is the most important factor in maintaining a healthy spine. Exercise and regular stretching will help speed the chiropractic correction process as well as help in maintaining the correction. Exercises and stretches are a necessary part of our chiropractic treatment.
Proper Posture. Marinating proper posture will decrease the chance of abnormal stress to the spine. Abnormal stress to the spine can, over time, lead to structural changes including degeneration of discs and joints, lengthening or shortening of the supportive ligaments and muscles, and wear and tear of cartilage. This can lead to pain and decrease in the range of motion in these areas. Proper posture along with chiropractic care will lessen your chance of these things happening.
Proper Sleep. A bad mattress or an unhealthy sleeping position can be a significant cause of back pain. To maintain proper posture, sleep on your side with knees bent and a pillow placed between your knees to help maintain the natural curves of your spine. Sleeping on your front with your head turned to one side, or sleeping with a large pillow should be avoided. Make sure your mattress supports your body so that the natural spinal alignment is maintained. Soft beds provide insufficient support, while overly firm beds can push your body into stressful positions.
What is subluxation? (back to top)
A subluxation is a misalignment of the spine which causes pressure or irritation of spinal nerves. Spinal nerves are the nerves that come out from between each of the bones in your spine. This pressure or irritation on the nerves then causes those nerves to malfunction and interferes with the signals traveling over those nerves.
This is bad because your nervous system controls and coordinates all the functions of the body. If there is interference with the signals traveling over the nerves, those areas of your body will not get proper nerve messages and will not be able to function at 100%. Chiropractors are the only profession who undergo years of training to be the experts at correcting subluxation.
