I was born and raised right here in Nashville, TN. I was away for almost 8 years obtaining my education but now I am back home! After I graduated from Hillsboro High School I attended the University of Tennessee where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and Biology. In 2006, after graduating college I decided to take a little time off and I was a substitute teacher for Knox County Elementary schools. Quickly I became bored of this and decided to go on to chiropractic school in South Carolina.
You may ask your self why did I choose to go to chiropractic school and not veterinary school? I began to have some mysterious problems with my hip around the age of 17.

I had gone to an orthopedic doctor who told me nothing was wrong, and that I would basically have to deal with the discomfort the rest of my life. He simply prescribed me a common arthritis medication to help deal with the pain. Sure the pain pills worked, but the side effects ended up being worse than the original pain, so I quit taking them. Later on, when I was in school at UT I was finally convinced to go see a chiropractor concerning my hip troubles. It took a few visits but eventually I was nearly pain free. I also learned that there was more to my symptoms than just the pain I was feeling. I learned that pain was my body’s response to an underlying problem, a structural alignment problem that was putting pressure on the nerves in my hip and low back area. It made sense to me to address the actual problem instead of covering up the symptoms with pain medication. Slowly, I began to think that chiropractic was more in line with what I wanted to do.
While attending chiropractic school in South Carolina at Sherman College of Chiropractic, I became an ACE intern. ACE stands for Academy of Chiropractic Excellence. It was a very small selective group of students who went above and beyond the expected requirements of interns in the clinic. I was the only girl in the ACE program of only 10 interns. So that I would have the opportunity to participate in the off campus internship program I finished my graduation requirements a quarter early. My last quarter of school was spent with Dr. Rebecca Pugh, at Maryland Farms Chiropractic, in Brentwood, TN. As soon as I graduated in June of 2010, Dr. Pugh offered me a position to continue working with her as her associate adjusting doctor. Since then I have been the Adjusting Doctor here at Maryland Farms Chiropractic.
